It Never Rains on
Brielle Day!
Brielle
Day is the major annual event of the Borough of Brielle.
It was established in 1972 and is held each September on the first
Saturday after Labor Day. Since the very first year, it has never
rained on Brielle Day.
Over 30,000
residents, visitors and friends alike are drawn to the
magnificent activities and fun filled events each year.
The
day starts with a 10K race ( 6.3 miles) with winners in
twenty two categories. The rest of the day is devoted to shopping
for crafts with over 200 craftsmen displaying their wares in booths
set up in the park. The crafts range from the truly artistic in
woodworking and jewelry, to more decorative items for Halloween
welcome signs. There are also a number of booths showing clothing,
pottery, home decorations, soup and dip preparations and much more.
The
Manasquan River Group of Artists and friends also have an
area set up to show and sell original artwork and prints.
Many
non-profit groups provide entertainment, and food for
attendees. There are also demonstrations by Boy Scouts, the First
Aid Squad and Police Department. These provide a wide range of
activities for young and old alike. The Brielle Fire Company also
hosts fire engine rides for all ages. If you’re lucky you won’t get
too wet as you ride past the fire- house.
The booths
for many of the non-profit organizations provide the only
fund raising opportunity for the year. This includes The Brielle
Chamber of Commerce.
Put Brielle Day
on your list of must things to do. You’ll have a great day, hear
good music, in general have fun…and admission is free. |
