Member News:
On a cold clear morning
in January, several boats were
barely visible a couple of miles
off the beach near Manasquan.
Looking more closely, it was
plain to see that one of the
boats was sinking. As the
other boat captains watched, an
old Coast Guard cutter was sunk.
This sinking is part
of the Artificial Reef program
which is building habitat off
the Jersey coast for fish and
other ocean wildlife. This
particular vessel was bought and
donated by the Brielle Chamber
of Commerce.
Over the past four
years, the Chamber has sponsored
a Family Fishing Tournament to
raise fund for this effort. By
continuing to build onto these
artificial reefs, more habitats
are created making the Jersey
Shore one of the county’s top
Saltwater fishing destinations.
The Chamber had
voted recently to name the site
memory of Trevor Dickinson.
Trevor was a young man from
Brielle who had lost his life in
a sporting accident several
years ago.
If you want to
try out the spot, the exact
coordinates are N 40 07.931, W
73 56.375.

“Shriners Hospitals for Children”.
This Holiday
season Monetti Custom
Builders
sponsored a fund drive to benefit the “Shriners Hospitals for
Children” in lieu of a Holiday Party. The money raised will help
provide specialized care for children with orthopedic conditions,
burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate. “Shriners
Hospitals for Children” have never billed a patient or asked for any
insurance since opening their first facility in 1919; the Shriners
network now encompasses 22 pediatric hospitals spanning throughout
the United States, Mexico and Canada.
